The Olymp aluminum radiator is not only perfect for heating a room.

In the summer months it can be used for cooling – completely noiseless and without a fan.

The topic of cooling in summer is becoming more and more important. The solution seems simple: activate the air conditioning and it’s fine and cool. However, it is not uncommon for simple solutions to have a catch. In this case, however, this hook even has a serious negative impact on our health (and on our wallet – keyword immense power consumption)!

Air conditioning systems bring us the cool air we want, but they dry out our rooms to a considerable extent and thus ensure an extremely unhealthy indoor climate. As a result, we are increasingly suffering from the same respiratory diseases in summer as we do in winter.

What alternatives do you have to survive hot days comfortably and at the same time not to dry out your airways? The answer to this question is gentle air cooling without a fan and without air dryness. No problem with the Olymp heat sink, ideally in conjunction with a heat pump.

Cooling with a radiator in conjunction with a heat pump.

One often hears the following sentence: A heat pump and a refrigerator work on the same principle, just the other way around. In technical terms, this means: the same principle with different directions of the heat flow. And that is exactly what helps us to “switch over” the heat pump in summer, so to speak, in order to use it for cooling. In summer, cold water then simply flows through the heating pipes and the radiator can be used for cooling.

The 2 variants: active or passive cooling with a heat pump.

Active cooling is possible with an air heat pump or a geothermal heat pump (brine). By actively reversing the heat pump cycle, the heat pump becomes a cooling unit. The heat is extracted from the interior and fed to the exterior. With active cooling, you have flow temperatures of at least 8 ° C in the heating pipes and condensation occurs on the radiator.

The principle of passive cooling works even more simply: The heat from the interior is simply fed to the ground (via the probes). This type of cooling is also called “natural cooling”. With passive cooling, the flow temperatures are at least 16 ° C and there is no condensation on the radiator.

Convincing advantages.

  • Easy cleaning: simply clean the radiator with a cloth or a frond
  • Moisture-resistant: no corrosion thanks to aluminum construction
  • Power cooling down to below 10 ° C flow possible
  • Gentle cooling without a fan and without a cold floor
  • Much better cost-benefit calculation compared to air conditioning
